The Prophet ﷺ said, "Learn enough of your lineages to maintain your family ties, for keeping the bonds of kinship brings love among relatives, increase in wealth, and a longer life."
حدثنا إبراهيم حدثنا ابن مبارك عن عبد الملك بن عيسى الثقفي عن مولى المنبعث
عن النبي ﷺ قال تعلموا من أنسابكم ما تصلون به أرحامكم فإن صلة الرحم محبة في الأهل مثراة في المال منسأة في أثره
Its chain is hasan, and the freedman of Munbaith's name is Yazid. Tirmidhi related it in 4/351, no. 1979, in the book of Righteousness, chapter on what has come regarding learning genealogy, and he said it is gharib. Haythami graded it hasan in 1/193, from the route of Tabarani, but he did not mention it from Ahmad. Hakim graded it sahih in 1/89, and Dhahabi agreed with him.His saying, "a cause of increase in wealth," means it brings about abundance, and "an extension in one's traces," means it lengthens one's lifespan.
