The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Are you not amazed at how the abuse of Quraysh is turned away from me? They insult Mudhammam, but I am Muhammad. They curse Mudhammam, but I am Muhammad."
حدثنا علي بن حفص قال أنبأنا ورقاء عن أبي الزناد عن الأعرج
قال رسول الله ﷺ ألا تعجبون كيف يصرف عني شتم قريش يشتمون مذمما وأنا محمد ويلعنون مذمما وأنا محمد
Its isnad is sahih. Ali is Ali bin Hafs, mentioned previously. The hadith is in the Sahihayn, narrated by Bukhari 3/1293, no. 3321, edited by Banna, in Manaqib, mention of Aslam and Ghifar, and by Muslim 4/1955, no. 2520 repeated, in the merits of the companions, from the merits of Ghifar and Aslam.
