I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, "I saw Amr bin Amir dragging his entrails in the Fire. He was the first to set free the saaibah and to designate the bahirah."
حدثنا الخزاعي قال أخبرنا ليث بن سعد عن يزيد بن الهاد عن ابن شهاب عن سعيد بن المسيب
سمعت رسول الله ﷺ يقول رأيت عمرو بن عامر يجر قصبه في النار وكان أول من سيب السائبة وبحر البحيرة
Its chain of transmission is sahih. As for the saibah and the bahirah, the people of pre-Islamic times, when a she-camel had given birth to five litters, the last of them being a male, they would slit its ear, meaning cut it, and forbid riding it or watering it, and it would not be driven away from water or from pasture.A man would also say, "If I return safely from my journey," or "If I recover from my illness, then my she-camel is a saibah," and he would treat it like the bahirah in forbidding any benefit from it. It is also said that when a man freed a slave, he would say, "He is a saibah," meaning there would be no bond of blood-payment or inheritance between them.
