I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, "Among the Children of Israil there were two men, one of whom devoted himself diligently to worship while the other wronged himself through excess, and the two were close as brothers. The devout one kept noticing sins in the other, so he would say to him, 'Shame on you, stop this!'The sinner would reply, 'Leave me alone with my Lord.'"The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Nothing is more precious to Allah than supplication."
حدثنا عبد الصمد حدثنا عكرمة بن عمار قال حدثنا ضمضم بن جوس الهفاني سمع أبا هريرة يقول سمعت رسول الله ﷺ يقول كان في بني إسرائيل رجلان أحدهما مجتهد في العبادة والآخر مسرف على نفسه وكانا متآخيين فكان المجتهد لا يزال يرى على الآخر ذنبا فيقول ويحك أقصر فيقول المذنب خلني وربي فذكر مثل حديث أبي عامر
