Abu Ghareef reported,

Ali was brought water for ablution. He rinsed his mouth and nose three times, washed his face three times, and washed his hands and forearms three times each. Then he wiped his head and washed his feet.He said, "This is how I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ perform ablution."He then recited some of the Quran and said, "This is for one who is not in a state of major impurity. As for the one in such a state, no, not even a single verse."

حدثنا عائذ بن حبيب حدثني عامر بن السمط

عن أبي الغريف قال

أتي علي رضي الله عنه بوضوء فمضمض واستنشق ثلاثا وغسل وجهه ثلاثا وغسل يديه وذراعيه ثلاثا ثلاثا ثم مسح برأسه ثم غسل رجليه ثم قال هكذا رأيت رسول الله ﷺ توضأ ثم قرأ شيئا من القرآن ثم قال هذا لمن ليس بجنب فأما الجنب فلا ولا آية
