I was a man who experienced a great deal of madhi, so I kept performing the full bath even in winter until my back became cracked. I mentioned this to the Prophet ﷺ, or it was mentioned to him, and he said, "Do not do that. When you notice madhi, wash your private part and perform ablution as you would for prayer. But when you ejaculate, then perform the full bath."
Its isnad is sahih. Ubayda bin Humayd is trustworthy and sound in hadith, a man of grammar, Arabic language, and Quran recitation. In H it appears as al-Ubayda bin Ubayd, which is a mistake. Rukayn, with the diminutive form, is Ibn Rabi bin Umayla Fazari, and he is trustworthy. Husayn bin Qabisa Fazari is a trustworthy successor. See 586.
