The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "I am closer to the believers than they are to themselves. Whoever leaves behind wealth, it goes to his paternal relatives, and whoever leaves behind dependents or those in need, I am their guardian, so let there be no other claimant for him."
Its chain of transmission contains Abu Husayn, who narrates from Abu Salih and from whom Israil narrates, and I did not find his biography, but it later became clear that he is Uthman bin Aasim al-Asadi, who is trustworthy, so the chain is sahih. Suyuti narrated something similar to it with the wording, "I have more right over the believers than themselves..." in al-Jami al-Sagheer, indicating that it is sahih, and it was narrated by Bukhari, Muslim, Nasai, and Ibn Majah from Abu Hurairah.
