The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "When one of you wakes from sleep, let him pour water over his hands from his vessel three times."
حدثنا محمد بن جعفر حدثنا محمد بن عمرو عن أبي سلمة
قال رسول الله ﷺ إذا استيقظ أحدكم من نومه فليفرغ على يديه من إنائه ثلاث مرات
Suyuti narrated something similar in Jami Saghir with this wording, "When one of you wakes from his sleep, he should not put his hand into the vessel until he has washed it three times, for none of you knows where his hand spent the night." Malik, Shafii, Bukhari, Muslim, Abu Dawud, Tirmidhi, Nasai, and Ibn Majah narrated it from Abu Hurairah, and Suyuti indicated that it is a sahih hadith.
