I was sitting with my father, and a young servant was with him. The servant got up, so I sat in his place. My father said to me, "Get up from his seat. Abu Hurayrah informed us that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'When one of you rises from his seat and then returns to it, he has more right to it.'"Suhayl added, "When he made me get up, I felt small within myself."
Bukhari narrated it in al-Adab, and Muslim, Abu Dawud, and Ibn Majah narrated it from Abu Hurairah. It was also narrated in that Musnad from Wahb bin Huzaifa, and Suyuti indicated in al-Jami al-Sagheer that it is sahih.
