The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Two women went out, each with her young son. A wolf came and seized one of the boys. The two women began to quarrel over the remaining child, each claiming him as her own. They brought their dispute to Dawud, who ruled that the child belonged to the elder of the two. They then passed by the prophet Sulayman ﷺ, who asked, 'What is your situation?'They told him the story.Sulayman said, 'Bring me a knife so I may split the boy between you.'The younger woman cried out, 'Would you really cut him in half?'He replied, 'Yes.'She said, 'Do not do it. My share of him belongs to her.'He then said, 'He is your son,' and ruled that the child was hers."
