We went out with Ali against the Khawarij, and he fought and killed them. Then he said, "Look carefully, for the Prophet of Allah ﷺ said, 'A people will emerge who speak the truth, but it will not pass beyond their throats. They will pass out of the truth as an arrow passes through its target. Their distinguishing sign is that among them is a black man with a deformed hand, on which are several black hairs. If he is among them, then you have killed the worst of people, and if he is not, then you have killed the best of people.'"So we wept. Then he said, "Search for him." We searched and found the deformed man. We fell down in prostration, and Ali fell down in prostration with us. However, he said, "They speak a word of truth."

خرجنا مع علي إلى الخوارج فقتلهم ثم قال انظروا فإن نبي الله ﷺ قال إنه سيخرج قوم يتكلمون بالحق لا يجاوز حلقهم يخرجون من الحق كما يخرج السهم من الرمية سيماهم أن منهم رجلا أسود مخدج اليد في يده شعرات سود إن كان هو فقد قتلتم شر الناس وإن لم يكن هو فقد قتلتم خير الناس فبكينا ثم قال اطلبوا فطلبنا فوجدنا المخدج فخررنا سجودا وخر علي معنا ساجدا غير أنه قال يتكلمون بكلمة الحق
Its isnad is sahih. Walid bin Qasim bin Walid Hamdani, with a kasrah on the plain ha, a sukoon on the ba, and a fatha on the dotted dhal, is named after Hibdha bin Malik bin Dhi Bariq, a clan of Hamdan. He is trustworthy, Ahmad and others confirmed his reliability, and Bukhari gave his biography in Kabir 4/2/152 without mentioning any criticism of him.Israil is Ibn Yunus ibn Abu Ishaq.Tariq bin Ziyad, Ibn Hibban mentioned him in Thiqat.
