I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, "Is there no man who will take what Allah and His Messenger have prescribed, a single phrase, or two, or three, or four, or five, and place them in the corner of his cloak so that he may learn them and teach them to others?"Abu Hurairah said, "I responded, 'I will, Messenger of Allah.'"He said, "Then spread out your garment."So I spread out my garment, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ spoke at length. Then he said, "Gather it to yourself."I gathered my garment against my chest, and I truly hope that I have not forgotten a single hadith I heard from him afterward.
Its isnad is sahih. Bukhari narrated it, and in Fath al-Bari 1:224, Hilyat Awliya 1:378, and Tabaqat Ibn Saad 2:564, he spread it out and scooped with his hand, then said, "Embrace it," so I embraced it.
