The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "A believing man should not hate a believing woman. If he dislikes one of her traits, he will be pleased with another."
Its isnad is sahih. Abdul-Hameed bin Jafar bin Abdullah bin Hakam narrates from the paternal uncle of his father, Umar bin Hakam bin Rafi bin Sinan Ansari, both directly and by way of Imran bin Abu Anas, and both are sahih. Muslim related it in the Book of Marriage from Ibrahim bin Musa. The meaning of "let him not hate her" is, let him not detest her, for the faith with which each of them is characterized should serve as a barrier against hatred, and should lead instead to affection, harmony, and love. This noble prophetic guidance was also brought by the Noble Quran, where Allah Most High says, "And live with them in kindness. For if you dislike them, it may be that Allah will bring about through it much good" [Nisa 4:19].
