Wahb Suwaei reported,
Ali 
addressed us and asked, "Who is the best of this nation after its Prophet?"I replied, "You are, Commander of the Faithful."He said, "No. The best of this nation after its Prophet is Abu Bakr, then Umar . And we do not rule out that tranquility speaks upon the tongue of Umar ."

عن وهب السوائي قال
خطبنا علي رضي الله عنه فقال من خير هذه الأمة بعد نبيها فقلت أنت يا أمير المؤمنين قال لا خير هذه الأمة بعد نبيها أبو بكر ثم عمر رضي الله عنه وما نبعد أن السكينة تنطق على لسان عمر رضي الله عنه
Its isnad is sahih. Hidya bin Abdul-Wahhab Marwazi, Abu Salih, is trustworthy. Muhammad bin Ubayd bin Abu Umaya Tanafisi is trustworthy and firmly reliable. Yahya bin Ayub bin Abu Zura bin Amr bin Jareer Bajali is trustworthy, though Ibn Main is reported to have both declared him daif and affirmed his reliability, and Bukhari gave him an entry in al-Kabir 4/2/260 without mentioning any criticism of him. Wahb Suwai is Abu Juhayfa Wahb bin Abdullah Suwai.Al-Hidya is spelled with a fatha on the ha, a kasra on the dal, and a doubled ya.This hadith is an extended version of the one before it. Hadiths 829-834 are among the additions of Abdullah bin Ahmad.
