The Messenger of Allah ﷺ slaughtered a camel, and the people rushed to grab portions of it. His announcer then called out, "Allah and His Messenger forbid you from snatching." So the people brought back what they had taken, and he distributed it among them.

نحر رسول الله ﷺ جزورا فانتهبها الناس فنادى مناديه إن الله ورسوله ينهيانكم عن النهبة فجاء الناس بما أخذوا فقسمه بينهم

It has been narrated that there was a prohibition against plunder, and Suyuti attributed it in Al-Jami al-Sagheer to the Musnad, noting that it is a hasan hadith.Darimi narrated two hadiths. The first, "No one plunders a notable act of plunder, one in which believers raise their eyes toward it, while he who plunders it is a believer." This is a portion of a hadith narrated by the two Shaikhs, Ahmad, Nasai, and Ibn Majah.The second, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade plunder." Abu Muhammad said, "This refers to warfare, when they seize spoils before they are divided."
