The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "A man was strutting about in two fine cloaks, filled with admiration for himself, when the earth swallowed him up, and he will go on sinking down through it until the Day of Resurrection."
وقال رسول الله ﷺ بينما رجل يتبختر في بردين وقد أعجبته نفسه خسفت به الأرض فهو يتجلجل فيها حتى يوم القيامة
This is also sahih, and it is in the individual Sahifah, number 64. Muslim [6:149 S / 2:156 Bulaq] related it through the route of the Sahifah, but he did not mention its wording in full, referring instead to the narrations before it, from the narration of Muhammad bin Ziyad from Abu Hurairah, and from the narration of Araj from Abu Hurairah. This has already passed at 7618, with similar wording, from the narration of Muhammad bin Ziyad from Abu Hurairah. Bukhari likewise related it, 10:221-222 Fath, from the narration of Muhammad bin Ziyad, as we mentioned there. As for his saying, "until the Day of Resurrection," this is what is established in the manuscripts of the Musnad and Jami al-Masanid, and it is what Ibn Hajar quoted in Fath al-Bari, 10:222, from the narration of Hammam from Abu Hurairah from Ahmad. But in the individual Sahifah it occurs as "to the Day of Resurrection," and I fear this may be an alteration made by a copyist or printer.
