The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The Hour will not come until wealth becomes so abundant among you that it overflows, so much so that the owner of wealth will worry about who will accept his charity from him." He also said, "Knowledge will be taken away, time will grow short, tribulations will appear, and harj will increase."They asked, "What is harj, Messenger of Allah?"He replied, "Killing, killing."
This hadith is sahih, and it appears in the individual manuscript, combined with the one following it as a single hadith, numbered 22. The two Shaykhs did not narrate it through the manuscript's chain. Bukhari narrated it repeatedly through various routes, both at length and in abridged form, including 223 Fath, from the recension of Aaraj, and also at length in 13:72–78 Fath, also from the recension of Aaraj. Muslim narrated something similar to it in 1:277 Bulaq, from the narration of Abu Salih from Abu Hurairah, and then from the narration of Abu Yunus from Abu Hurairah.Regarding his saying, "the owner of wealth will worry" (yahummu), the preferred reading is with the ya pronounced with damma, from the four-letter verb form, as in "the matter worried him" (ahammahu), meaning it troubled him. It is also permissible to read the ya with fatha, from the three-letter form, as in "the matter grieved him" (hammahu), meaning it saddened him. Both readings have been recorded in the various narrations. "The owner of wealth" (rabb al-mal) is in the accusative as the object, and the subject is "whoever accepts."8120 M - He said, "And knowledge will be taken away, time will draw close, tribulations will appear, and harj will increase." They asked, "What is harj, O Messenger of Allah?" He said, "Killing, killing." [22]Sahih (M 8120). This is also sahih. We had combined it with the previous one as a single hadith under one number, but it is preferable that they be two separate hadiths. Therefore we have assigned this one a repeated number, and it is combined with the previous one as a single hadith in the individual manuscript under number 22. Bukhari did not narrate it through the manuscript's chain. Muslim narrated it through that chain, but did not give its wording, referring it instead to earlier narrations [8:60 S / 2:305 Bulaq].Its meaning has already occurred, at length and in abridged form, repeatedly, including 7186, from the narration of Ibn Musayab from Abu Hurairah, and 7480, 7481, from the narration of Dinar Laythi, from Abu Hurairah, and 7540, 7859, from the narration of Salim from Abu Hurairah. Bukhari narrated something similar to it, at length and in abridged form, repeatedly, including 1/165 Fath, from the narration of Salim, from Abu Hurairah, and 10:383 Fath, from the recension of Aaraj, and also 13:72–78 Fath, also from the recension of Aaraj. Muslim also narrated it, in abridged form, in 2:362 Bulaq, from the narration of Abu Salih from Abu Hurairah.
