The Messenger of Allah ﷺ related that while a man was driving a garlanded sacrificial camel, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to him, "Woe to you, ride it."The man replied, "It is a sacrificial camel, Messenger of Allah."He said again, "Woe to you, ride it."
وقال بينما رجل يسوق بدنة مقلدة قال له رسول الله ﷺ ويلك اركبها قال بدنة يا رسول الله قال ويلك اركبها
This is a sahih hadith. It is in the single manuscript (al-Sahifa al-Mufrada) under number 11, narrated by Muslim [91:4 secret edition / 1:374 Bulaq] from Muhammad bin Rafi from Abdul-Razzaq.It has already passed in similar form as 7447, through the transmission chain of the Araj recension, and before that as 7344, with uncertainty between the narration of Araj and the narration of Musa bin Abu Uthman from his father. We mentioned there that Malik narrated it in Muwatta, p. 377, from Abu Zinad, from Araj.It has also already passed in meaning as 7723, in the narration of Ikrima from Abu Hurairah. Bukhari narrated it at 3:428-429, and 5:287, 10:456 Fath, from the Araj recension, and likewise Muslim narrated it at 1:373-374 Bulaq, with two chains through that same route.Bukhari narrated it at 438 Fath, from the narration of Ikrima from Abu Hurairah, and the single manuscript confirms this explicitly, stating, "Abu Hurairah said." The addition "Woe to you, ride it" a second time at the end of the hadith is the correct reading, established in the manuscript originals of the Musnad and in Jami al-Masanid, and it is also established in the single manuscript. Its omission in the printed edition of the Musnad is an error, whether of the copyist or the printer.
