The Prophet ﷺ asked, "Do you know who the bankrupt person is?"They replied, "Among us, Messenger of Allah, the bankrupt is the one who has neither money nor possessions."He said, "The bankrupt of my nation is the one who comes on the Day of Resurrection with prayer, fasting, and zakat to his credit, but he comes having insulted this person, slandered that one, devoured the wealth of another, shed the blood of yet another, and struck someone else. So this one will be given from his good deeds, and that one will be given from his good deeds. If his good deeds run out before his debts are settled, their sins will be taken and cast upon him, then he will be thrown into the Fire."
Its isnad is sahih. It will also come again at 8395, 8829. Muslim narrated it in 2:283, and Tirmidhi in 3:291-292, both of them through the route of Ala bin Abdul-Rahman, from his father, from Abu Hurairah. Tirmidhi said, this is a hasan sahih hadith.
