The Prophet ﷺ forbade making vows and said, "A vow does not turn back what has been decreed. It only extracts something from the miserly person."
حدثنا محمد بن جعفر حدثنا شعبة سمعت العلاء يحدث عن أبيه
عن النبي ﷺ أنه نهى عن النذر وقال لا يرد من القدر وإنما يستخرج به من البخيل
Its isnad is sahih, and it is a repetition of 7207 with similar wording. Imam Ahmad indicated there the narration of Muhammad bin Jafar, and this is it. See also 7295. The word "[bihi]" was not mentioned in kh, and we have added it from the manuscripts. It is also confirmed in Imam Ahmad's reference in 7207, where he stated explicitly that Ibn Jafar added it.
