I was with Ali bin Abu Talib when the Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent him to the people of Mecca with the announcement of Baraah.Someone asked him, "What were you proclaiming?"He replied, "We were calling out that no one will enter Paradise except a believer, that no one may circumambulate the House while naked, that whoever has a treaty with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, its term extends to four months, and once the four months have passed, Allah and His Messenger are free of any obligation to the polytheists, and that no polytheist may perform Hajj at this House after this year."He said, "I kept calling out until my voice grew hoarse."
حدثنا محمد بن جعفر حدثنا شعبة عن مغيرة عن الشعبي عن محرر بن أبي هريرة عن أبيه
كنت مع علي بن أبي طالب حين بعثه رسول الله ﷺ إلى أهل مكة ببراءة فقال ما كنتم تنادون قال كنا ننادي أنه لا يدخل الجنة إلا مؤمن ولا يطوف بالبيت عريان ومن كان بينه وبين رسول الله ﷺ عهد فإن أجله أو أمده إلى أربعة أشهر فإذا مضت الأربعة الأشهر فإن الله بريء من المشركين ورسوله ولا يحج هذا البيت بعد العام مشرك قال فكنت أنادي حتى صحل صوتي
