The Prophet ﷺ said, "The most lying of people," or "among the most lying of people, are the goldsmiths and the dyers."
حدثنا يزيد أخبرنا همام عن فرقد عن يزيد بن عبد الله بن الشخير
عن النبي ﷺ قال أكذب الناس أو من أكذب الناس الصواغون والصباغون
Its isnad is daif. Farqad is Ibn Yaqub Sabakhi, and he is daif, as we explained in 2133. Ibn Majah related the hadith at 2152 through Amr bin Harun Thaqafi Balkhi, from Hammam, with this same isnad. Busiri said in his Zawaid, its isnad is daif, because Farqad Sabakhi is daif, and Amr bin Harun was accused of lying by Ibn Main and others.Busiri was correct in the first reason he gave, but fell short in the second, for Amr bin Harun was not the only one who transmitted it from Hammam. Ahmad related it here from Yazid bin Harun, and he will relate it later at 8285 from Abdul-Samad, and at 8529 from Affan, all of them from Hammam. So Amr bin Harun was not alone in transmitting it, such that it could be made a reason for judging it daif.
