The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Any prayer in which the Mother of the Quran is not recited is deficient, it is deficient."
حدثنا يزيد أخبرنا محمد يعني ابن عمرو عن عبد الملك بن المغيرة بن نوفل
قال رسول الله ﷺ كل صلاة لا يقرأ فيها بأم القرآن فهي خداج ثم هي خداج
Its isnad is sahih. Abdul-Malik bin Mughira bin Nawfal bin Harith bin Abdul-Muttalib bin Hashim, the Madinan, is a trustworthy successor, whose biography appears in Ibn Saad 5:164–165, and Ibn Abu Hatim 2/2/365. The meaning of the hadith has occurred repeatedly, within longer hadiths, including numbers 7400 and 7825.
