The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Hospitality to a guest is for three days. Whatever is given beyond that is charity."
حدثنا سويد بن عمرو حدثنا أبان حدثنا يحيى عن أبي سلمة
قال رسول الله ﷺ الضيافة ثلاثة أيام فما كان بعد ذلك فهو صدقة
Its isnad is sahih. Suwayd bin Amr Kalbi, his reliability was established earlier at 1502, and we add here that Bukhari mentioned him in al-Kabir 149/2/2, as did Ibn Saad 6:385, and Ibn Abu Hatim gave his biography at 239/1/2, and his reliability was also reported from Ibn Main.Aban is Ibn Yazid Attar. Yahya is Ibn Abu Kathir.This hadith will come again at 9560, from Yahya, who is al-Qattan, from Muhammad bin Amr, from Abu Salama, with the same account. It will also come again at 8632/0, through the narration of Asim bin Bahdala from Abu Salih, from Abu Hurairah, and likewise Abu Dawud narrated it at 3749 by way of Asim from Abu Salih.
