The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Adam and Musa argued with one another. Musa said to him, 'Adam, you are the one who got people expelled from Paradise by your sin and brought misery upon them.'Adam replied to him, 'You are the one whom Allah chose above humanity with His messages and His speech. Do you blame me for a matter that Allah had written, or decreed against me, before He even created me?'"The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "So Adam got the better of Musa in the argument."
Its isnad is sahih. In al-Tahdhib, in the biographical entry on Ayub bin Najjar, Ibn Abu Maryam reported from Ibn Main, "Trustworthy, truthful." And he used to say, "I did not hear from Yahya bin Abu Kathir except one hadith, 'Adam and Musa met,'" meaning this hadith.Bukhari related this hadith, 8:327, from Qutayba bin Saeed, from Ayub bin Najjar, with this wording. Muslim also related it, 2:300, from Amr Naqid, from Ayub bin Najjar, but he did not mention its wording, referring instead to the other narrations preceding it. Something similar to it in meaning has already passed, 7623, 7624.
