The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Faith retreats to Medina just as a snake retreats to its hole."

قال رسول الله ﷺ إن الإيمان ليأرز إلى المدينة كما تأرز الحية إلى جحرها
Its isnad is sahih. Khubayb bin Abdul-Rahman was discussed previously at 7222. He is the maternal uncle of Ubaydullah bin Umar bin Hafs.Bukhari narrated the hadith at 80-81, and Muslim at 52:1, and Ibn Majah at 3111, all of them through Ubaydullah, with this same wording.
