A man removed a thorny branch from the path of the Muslims, and he was forgiven for it.Abdullah said, "This hadith is marfu, but Sufyan fell short in raising it to the Prophet."

Its chain of transmission is sahih. It is elevated in ruling, even though it is stopped in wording, indeed it is elevated in wording in the rest of the narrations, and Sufyan bin Uyayna fell short in raising it, as Abdullah bin Ahmad said here following his narration of it. It will come elevated in wording from the narration of Wahib from Suhayl, from his father, 8479, and from the narration of Ismail bin Ayyash from Suhayl, 9235, and likewise Muslim narrated it, 2:292, elevated, from the narration of Jareer from Suhayl. Malik narrated it with the same meaning from Sumayy, from Abu Salih, within a lengthy hadith, p. 131. It will come by the route of Malik, 10909, and likewise Bukhari narrated it, 2:116, and Muslim, 2:105, 292, both by the route of Malik. It will also come elevated by other routes, 7834, 8026, 9667, 10294.
