The Messenger of Allah ﷺ announced the death of the Negus to his companions while he was in Medina. They formed rows behind him, and he led the funeral prayer over him, saying the takbeer four times.

نعى رسول الله ﷺ النجاشي لأصحابه وهو بالمدينة فصفوا خلفه وصلى عليه وكبر أربعا
