He then said, narrating from Araj from Abu Hurairah regarding the zakat of fitr, that it is due upon every free person and slave, male or female, young or old, poor or rich, a sa of dates or half a sa of wheat. Muamar said, "It has reached me that Zuhri used to trace this report back to the Prophet ﷺ."
Its isnad is sahih as a mawquf report, but not as a marfu one. Abdul-Razzaq made clear that Mamar used to narrate it at first from Zuhri directly from Abu Hurairah, as mawquf, which would make it munqati, and that he later connected it, since he recalled that he had heard it from Zuhri, from Araj, from Abu Hurairah. So the isnad becomes sahih and connected. As for raising it to the level of marfu, that has not been established, because Mamar did not hear it from Zuhri as marfu. Rather, it reached him that Zuhri used to attribute it to the Prophet ﷺ, that is, ascribe it to him and raise it to him. But we do not know who conveyed this to Mamar. The hadith was narrated by Tahawi in Maani Athar 1:320 through Husayn bin Mahdi, by Daraqutni in his Sunan, p. 224, through Hasan bin Abu Rabi, and by Bayhaqi in Sunan al-Kubra 4:164, through Ishaq bin Ibrahim Dabari, all of them from Abdul-Razzaq, with this isnad, following the connected version, not the first, disconnected version that Mamar retracted. They mentioned in it what reached Mamar, that Zuhri used to raise it to the level of marfu.Haythami mentioned it in Majma al-Zawaid, p. 80, and said, Ahmad narrated it, and it is mawquf sahih. Raising it to marfu is not sahih.See also Nasb Raya 2:427, and see also what has already passed in the Musnad of Abdullah bin Umar, 6214.
