Abu Hurairah used to lead us in prayer. He would say takbir when he stood up, when he bowed, when he was about to prostrate after rising from the bowing, when he was about to prostrate after rising from the prostration, when he sat, and when he was about to rise after the first two units of prayer. He would say takbir in the same way during the last two units. When he gave the closing salam, he would say, "By the One in whose hand my soul rests, I am the closest of you in resemblance to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ in prayer." This remained his manner of praying until he departed this world.

كان أبو هريرة يصلي بنا فيكبر حين يقوم وحين يركع وإذا أراد أن يسجد بعدما يرفع من الركوع وإذا أراد أن يسجد بعدما يرفع من السجود وإذا جلس وإذا أراد أن يرفع في الركعتين كبر ويكبر مثل ذلك في الركعتين الأخريين فإذا سلم قال والذي نفسي بيده إني لأقربكم شبها برسول الله ﷺ يعني صلاته ما زالت هذه صلاته حتى فارق الدنيا
Its isnad is sahih. Nasai narrated it, 1:158, through the narration of Abdullah bin Mubarak, from Yunus, from Zuhri, from Abu Salama, with similar wording. It mentions that this happened when Marwan appointed Abu Hurairah as governor over Madinah. Muslim likewise narrated it, 1:115, through this same route, from the narration of Ibn Wahb, from Yunus, from Zuhri, but he did not give the full wording, referring instead to the narrations before it.
