Yaqub said, "My father narrated to us from Ibn Shihab, from Aghar, from Abu Hurairah." Yaqub did not mention Abu Salama. My father said, "Yunus narrated it to us from Aghar and Abu Salama, from Abu Hurairah, from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, who said, 'When it is the day of Jumuah, at every door of the mosque there are angels recording who arrives first, then who comes next. When the imam sits down, they fold up the scrolls and come to listen to the remembrance.'"
Its chains of transmission are sahih. Imam Ahmad narrated it first from two teachers, from Ibrahim bin Saad, and one of them added an additional narrator to the chain compared to the other. He narrated it from Abu Kamil, from Ibrahim (who is Ibn Saad), from Zuhri, from Aghar and Abu Salama, both of them from Abu Hurairah. Then he narrated it from Yaqub bin Ibrahim bin Saad, from his father, from Zuhri, from Aghar alone, from Abu Hurairah. Imam Yaqub made clear that he did not mention Abu Salama alongside Aghar in the chain. The Imam then wanted to show that Yaqub's omission of Abu Salama from the chain is not a defect in the first chain, but rather that the narrator simply confined himself to some of the narrators without others. So he said following that, Yunus narrated to us from Aghar and Abu Salama, from Abu Hurairah. It is obvious that this should not be taken at face value, for Yunus bin Muhammad Al-Muaddib, the teacher of Imam Ahmad, does not narrate directly from Zuhri, let alone from Zuhri's own teachers. Rather, Imam Ahmad only meant to show that his teacher Yunus followed Abu Kamil in adding Abu Salama, and that he narrated it just as Abu Kamil narrated it, from Ibrahim bin Saad, from Zuhri, from Aghar and Abu Salama, from Abu Hurairah. This is clear. Here, in Yunus's narration, it occurs as "from Aghar, from Abu Salama," using "from" instead of "and," which is a clear error. The most likely explanation is that it is a printing error. We have corrected it based on the two manuscripts K and M.This hadith is a repetition of numbers 7257 and 7510, and we noted there Muslim's narration of it (1:235). Muslim's narration comes through the route of Yunus, who is Ibn Yazid Al-Ayli, from Zuhri, "Abu Abdullah Aghar informed me that he heard Abu Hurairah." This narration confirms the correctness of what we established from the two manuscripts, and that Aghar heard it directly from Abu Hurairah, with no one between them in the chain.
