Abu Hurayrah reported that the Prophet ﷺ said, "Silver for silver, like for like and weight for weight, and gold for gold, weight for weight and like for like. Whoever gives more or takes more has engaged in usury."
حدثنا يعلى حدثنا فضيل يعني ابن غزوان عن ابن أبي نعم
رة عن النبي ﷺ قال الفضة بالفضة مثلا بمثل وزنا بوزن والذهب بالذهب وزنا بوزن مثلا بمثل فمن زاد فهو ربا
Its isnad is sahih. This is actually two hadiths, transmitted with a single isnad, so we gave the second one the same number, repeated.Ibn Abu Nium is Abdul-Rahman Bajali.The hadith was narrated by Muslim (1:462) and Nasai (2:222), both by way of Muhammad bin Fudayl bin Ghazwan, from his father, with this isnad. Majd mentioned it in al-Muntaqa (2893), but did not include at the end, "whoever gives more, it is riba." This addition is confirmed in the narrations of Muslim and Nasai. See 7171.7549m, "Fruit is not to be sold until its soundness becomes apparent." Sahih.(7549m) Its isnad is sahih, with the isnad preceding it. Muslim narrated it (1:448) by way of Ibn Fudayl, from his father, similarly. Majd also attributed it in al-Muntaqa (2853) to Nasai and Ibn Majah. See 6376.
