The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Four rivers flow from Paradise: the Furat, the Nile, the Sayhan, and the Jayhan."
حدثنا ابن نمير ويزيد قالا أخبرنا محمد بن عمرو عن أبي سلمة
قال رسول الله ﷺ فجرت أربعة أنهار من الجنة الفرات والنيل وسيحان وجيحان
Its isnad is sahih. A similar version will come at 7873 and 9672, narrated by Habib bin Abdul-Rahman, from Hafs bin Asim, from Abu Hurairah. Muslim narrated it in 2:351 through Habib's route. But Suyuti mentioned the version found here in Jami Sagheer 5841 without attributing it to any source other than the Musnad, even though it is in the Sahih. Haythami mentioned it in Zawaid 10:71, with an addition, "four rivers among the rivers of Paradise," and said, "Tabarani narrated it in Awsat, and it contains narrators I do not recognize." However, he did not fail to point to Muslim's narration, for he said, "His hadith about the rivers is in the Sahih."Sayhan, in Q it reads "as-Sayhan" with the definite article added, which is an error. We have corrected it based on K and M. In Nihayah by Ibn Athir it says that Sayhan and Jayhan are two rivers in the frontier regions, near Massisa and Tarsus.
