The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said that Allah said, "Who is more unjust than the one who tries to create something like My creation? Let them create a gnat, or let them create a grain."
Its chain of transmission is sahih. Ata bin Yazid Laythi, then Jundai, is a trustworthy successor with many hadiths. Ibn Madini, Nasai, and others deemed him trustworthy. Ibn Saad gave his biography in volume 5, pages 184-185, as did Ibn Abu Hatim in 3/1/338.Jundai is spelled with a dammah on the jim, a sakinah on the nun, a fatha on the plain dal, followed by a plain ain. A dammah on the dal is also permissible, as Ibn Durayd stated explicitly in al-Ishtiqaq, page 105. This attribution is to Jundu, a clan from Banu Layth bin Bakr. Here, in H and M, it appears as Ata bin Abu Yazid, but the addition of the word Abu is clearly an error. This hadith was narrated by Bukhari in 3:196 and 11:432, by Muslim in 2:2-3, and by Ibn Hibban in his Sahih, 131 in our edition, all of them by way of Zuhri from Ata bin Yazid Laythi, with the same wording. It has already appeared as number 7321, narrated by Abu Zinad, from Araj, from Abu Hurairah.
