The prayer was called, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ came forward and stood in his place of prayer. Then he remembered that he had not performed ghusl, so he left, saying, "Stay as you are."We remained in our rows, and when he returned, water was still dripping from his head. Then he led us in prayer.

أقيمت الصلاة فجاء رسول الله ﷺ فقام في مصلاه فذكر أنه لم يغتسل فانصرف ثم قال كما أنتم فصففنا وإن رأسه لينطف فصلى بنا

Its isnad is sahih, and it is a repetition of 7237 from the narration of Uzai from Zuhri. We have already cited it there. As for this narration of Abdul-Ala bin Abdul-Ala Basri, Bukhari referred to it in the Sahih, 1:329, after his narration through the route of Yunus from Zuhri, where he said, "Abdul-Ala followed him, from Mamar, from Zuhri." Hafiz cited this corroborating narration, saying, "His narration is connected in the account of Imam Ahmad, from him."
