The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "None of you will enter Paradise by his deeds alone."They asked, "Not even you, Messenger of Allah?"He replied, "Not even me, unless Allah envelops me in His mercy and grace," and he placed his hand on his head.
Its isnad is sahih, as we explained in detail regarding the previous hadith. This hadith has already appeared as no. 7202, narrated by Ibn Awn, from Ibn Sirin, from Abu Hurairah, with a similar meaning, and we noted there its citation in the Sahihayn. In the narration here there is an addition, "and he placed his hand on his head," and this addition is also established in meaning in the narration of Ibn Awn found in Muslim 2:347, "Ibn Awn said, with his hand like this, and gestured toward his head." So its apparent meaning in Muslim suggests a break in transmission, while its apparent meaning here suggests continuity.
