The Prophet ﷺ said, "Whoever prays one rakah of the dawn prayer before the sun rises has not missed it, and whoever prays one rakah of the afternoon prayer before the sun sets has not missed it."
حدثنا عبد الملك بن عمرو حدثنا علي يعني ابن المبارك عن يحيى يعني ابن أبي كثير عن أبي سلمة
أن النبي ﷺ قال من صلى ركعة من صلاة الصبح قبل أن تطلع الشمس فلم تفته ومن صلى ركعة من صلاة العصر قبل أن تغرب الشمس فلم تفته
Its isnad is sahih. Bukhari (2:32) and Nasai (1:90) narrated it with a similar meaning, through the route of Shayban, from Yahya, who is Ibn Abu Kathir, with this isnad. The essential meaning is established through several routes from Abu Hurairah, in the Sahihayn and other sources, and some of this has already passed at 7215 and 7282.
