The Prophet ﷺ said, "The slave is entitled to his food and clothing, and do not burden him with work beyond what he can bear."
حدثنا سفيان عن ابن عجلان عن بكير بن عبد الله عن عجلان
عن النبي ﷺ قال للمملوك طعامه وكسوته ولا تكلفونه من العمل ما لا يطيق
Its isnad is sahih. Sufyan is Ibn Uyayna. Ibn Ajlan is Muhammad. Bukayr is Bukayr bin Abdullah bin Ashaj, whose reliability was established earlier at 1446 and 5897, and we add here that Ibn Abu Hatim gave his biography at 1/1/403-404.Ajlan is the Madinan, the freed slave of Fatimah bint Utba bin Rabia, and he is a trustworthy Tabii. Bukhari gave his biography in al-Kabir at 1/4/61, and stated explicitly that he heard from Abu Hurairah. Ibn Abu Hatim also gave his biography in al-Jarh wal-Tadil at 2/3/18. He is not the same as Ajlan the Madinan, the freed slave of Mishmal, who also narrates from Abu Hurairah, as we explained the difference between them at 7198. Muhammad bin Ajlan narrates directly from his father, and also narrates from him through an intermediary, as is the case in this hadith. This hadith was narrated by Shafii in al-Umm [Musnad Shafii, arranged by Abid Sindi, 2:66:290], from Sufyan bin Uyayna, with this isnad. Malik narrated it in Muwatta at 980 as a balagh without an isnad, Malik said that it reached him that Abu Hurairah said, and he mentioned it as a marfu narration.Ibn Abdul-Barr said in al-Taqassi at 809, this hadith was narrated by Ibrahim bin Tahman, from Malik bin Anas, from Ibn Ajlan, from his father, from Abu Hurairah, from the Prophet. Thawri followed him on this isnad. It was narrated by Ibn Uyayna and others from Ibn Ajlan, from Bukayr bin Abdullah bin Ashaj, from Ajlan Abu Muhammad, from Abu Hurairah. This isnad is the sahih one according to the scholars of transmission. The hadith will come next, from the narration of Amr bin Harith from Bukayr. Muslim narrated it from this route in his Sahih, as we will mention. This, in my view, is what Ibn Abdul-Barr is referring to when he said, it was narrated by Ibn Uyayna and others.
