The Prophet ﷺ said, "When any of you strikes, let him avoid the face, for Allah created Adam in his image."
حدثنا سفيان عن أبي الزناد عن الأعرج
عن النبي ﷺ إذا ضرب أحدكم فليجتنب الوجه فإن الله خلق آدم على صورته
Its isnad is sahih. Muslim related it in 2:290, by way of Sufyan bin Uyayna, with this same isnad, in abridged form, not mentioning its ending, "For Allah created Adam in His image." Then he related it from the hadith of Qatada, from Abu Ayub, from Abu Hurairah, as a marfu report, "When one of you fights his brother, let him avoid the face, for Allah created Adam in His image." Abu Dawud related only its beginning in 4493 [4:285 of Awn al-Mabud], from the hadith of Abu Salama, from Abu Hurairah. It will come again by another route, longer than what is here, at 7414.
