Tufayl bin Amr al-Dawsi came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said, "The tribe of Daws has disobeyed and refused, so invoke Allah against them."The Messenger of Allah ﷺ faced the qiblah and raised his hands. The people said, "They are doomed."But he said, "Allah, guide Daws and bring them. Allah, guide Daws and bring them."
Its isnad is sahih. Bukhari narrated it, 8:78-79, 11:165, through Sufyan from Abu Zinad. He also narrated it, 6:7, through Shuayb from Abu Zinad, with similar wording. Muslim narrated it, 2:269, through Mughira bin Abdul-Rahman from Abu Zinad, with the same content.Tufayl, with a damma on the ta and a fatha on the fa, was a well known companion. The story of his migration with a man from his people will come later in the Musnad, in the hadith of Jabir bin Abdullah, 15041. See a good account of him in Ibn Saad, 4/1-175-177.
