The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said... My father and Muhammad bin Jafar narrated to us, Shuba said, I heard Ala report from his father, from Abu Hurairah, from the Prophet ﷺ, "Charity does not decrease wealth, and no man forgives an injustice done to him except that Allah increases him in honor, and no one shows humility..."
Both of its chains of transmission are sahih. Muslim related it (2:285) through Ismail bin Jafar, and Tirmidhi (155) through Darawardi, both of them from Ala, with this chain of transmission, similarly. Tirmidhi said, this is a hasan sahih hadith, and it is in Targheeb wa Tarheeb (2:20), where it is stated that Muslim and Tirmidhi related it, and Malik related it as a mursal narration. As for the wording at the end of the hadith, "and does not humble himself," it is recorded this way in the three original manuscripts, with the rest of the wording omitted. In the margin of manuscript M it says, this is how it appears in two copies, ending simply with the words "and does not humble himself." But in Muslim and Tirmidhi it ends with, "no one humbles himself for the sake of Allah except that Allah raises him."
