The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "There is no newborn who is not pricked by Satan at birth, causing it to cry out from his prick, except the son of Maryam and his mother."Then Abu Hurairah said, "Recite, if you wish, 'I seek refuge for her and her offspring in You from Satan, the accursed'" [Aal Imran 3:36].
حدثنا عبد الأعلى عن معمر عن الزهري عن سعيد
قال رسول الله ﷺ ما من مولود يولد إلا نخسه الشيطان فيستهل صارخا من نخسة الشيطان إلا ابن مريم وأمه ثم قال أبو هريرة اقرءوا إن شئتم {إني أعيذها بك وذريتها من الشيطان الرجيم}
Its isnad is sahih. Muslim narrated it, 2:224, through the route of Abdul-Ala from Maamar, with this isnad. Bukhari also narrated it, 159, and so did Muslim, through the route of Abdul-Razzaq from Maamar. Bukhari likewise narrated it, 6:338–339, through the route of Shuayb from Zuhri. See the tafsir of Ibn Kathir, 2:130, and the history of Ibn Kathir, 2:57.His statement, "There is no newborn," appears in H as, "There is no believer newborn." The addition of "believer" is a mistake that has no meaning here, and it is not mentioned in K or M, so we removed it.
