The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever sees me in a dream has truly seen me, for Satan cannot take my form." Ibn Fudayl once said, "cannot appear in my likeness." "Indeed, the truthful and righteous dream of a believing servant is one of seventy parts of prophethood."
Its isnad is sahih. Asim bin Kulayb, his reliability was already established at 85, 6328, and we add here that Ibn Main and Nasai deemed him reliable, and Ibn Saad said in 6:238, "He was trustworthy and relied upon," and Ahmad bin Salih said, "He is trustworthy and above suspicion."His father Kulayb bin Shihab Jarmi, with a fatha on the jim and a sakin on the ra, his reliability was already established at 1378, and we add here that Ibn Saad wrote a biography of him in Tabaqat 6:84 and said, "He was trustworthy and narrated many hadiths," and Ibn Abu Hatim did likewise in Jarh wa Tadil 3/2/167, and he reported his being deemed reliable on the authority of Abu Zura.Haythami mentioned this hadith in Majma al-Zawaid 7:173 and said, "Ahmad narrated it, and Kulayb bin Shihab is among its narrators, and he is trustworthy, though there is some discussion about him that does no harm." He also said, "It is found in the Sahih, apart from his statement 'seventy parts.'" But this statement is not precisely worded, for the beginning of the hadith, "Whoever sees me in a dream," and so on, was narrated by Bukhari at 10:477 and 12:238, and by Muslim at 2:201, through other routes, in a similar wording, on the authority of Abu Hurairah. Another version will come later through a different route at 7183, with the wording, "The believer's dream is one part out of forty-six parts of prophethood." This wording was narrated by Bukhari at 12:331 and by Muslim at 2:200-201 through several chains.
