The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "A child cannot repay his father, unless he finds him as a slave and buys him and sets him free."
حدثنا إسحاق بن يوسف حدثنا سفيان عن سهيل بن أبي صالح عن أبيه
قال رسول الله ﷺ لا يجزي ولد والده إلا أن يجده مملوكا فيشتريه فيعتقه
Its isnad is sahih. Sufyan is Thawri. As for Suhayl bin Abu Salih Sammaan, his reliability was established earlier at 3916, and we add here that Bukhari mentioned him in Al-Kabir 2/2/105–106, and Ibn Abu Hatim in Al-Jarh wal-Tadeel 2/1/246–247. The hadith was narrated by Muslim, 1:443, through several chains, from the narration of Suhayl bin Abu Salih, with the same wording. It was also narrated by Abu Dawud, Tirmidhi, Nasai, and Ibn Majah, as mentioned in Targhib wal-Tarhib 3:213.
