I set out with my father toward the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. When I saw him, my father said to me, "Do you know who this is?"I replied, "No."My father said, "This is the Messenger of Allah ﷺ."I shivered when he said that, for I had imagined that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ would be something that did not resemble ordinary people. But there before me was a human being with hair reaching his earlobes. Affan said in his narration, "having locks of hair," with traces of henna on it, wearing two green garments.My father greeted him, then we sat down and talked for a while. Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to my father, "Is this your son?"He replied, "Yes, by the Lord of the Kaabah."He asked, "Truly?"My father said, "I bear witness to it."The Messenger of Allah ﷺ then smiled, laughing at how strongly I resembled my father and at my father's swearing about me. Then he said, "He shall not bear the consequences of your crimes, nor you of his." And the Messenger of Allah ﷺ recited, "No bearer of burdens shall bear the burden of another" [Anam 6:164].Then I noticed something like a growth between his shoulders and said, "Messenger of Allah, I have skill in treating people. Shall I treat this for you?"He replied, "No. Its physician is the One who created it."

انطلقت مع أبي نحو رسول الله ﷺ فلما رأيته قال لي أبي هل تدري من هذا قلت لا فقال لي أبي هذا رسول الله ﷺ فاقشعررت حين قال ذاك وكنت أظن رسول الله ﷺ شيئا لا يشبه الناس فإذا بشر له وفرة قال عفان في حديثه ذو وفرة وبها ردع من حناء عليه ثوبان أخضران فسلم عليه أبي ثم جلسنا فتحدثنا ساعة ثم إن رسول الله ﷺ قال لأبي ابنك هذا قال إي ورب الكعبة قال حقا قال أشهد به فتبسم رسول الله ﷺ ضاحكا من ثبت شبهي بأبي ومن حلف أبي علي ثم قال أما إنه لا يجني عليك ولا تجني عليه قال وقرأ رسول الله ﷺ {ولا تزر وازرة وزر أخرى} قال ثم نظر إلى مثل السلعة بين كتفيه فقال يا رسول الله إني لأطب الرجال ألا أعالجها لك قال لا طبيبها الذي خلقها
Its isnad is sahih. Hisham bin Abdul-Malik is Abu Walid Tayalisi. The hadith was narrated by Ibn Hibban in his Sahih 3:215, from Fadl bin Hubab Jumahi, from Abu Walid Tayalisi, with this isnad. Bayhaqi narrated it in Sunan al-Kubra 8:345, through Ismail bin Ishaq Qadi, from Abu Walid, with this isnad. Ibn Saad narrated it in Tabaqat 1/2/132, in abbreviated form, from Affan bin Muslim and Hisham Abu Walid Tayalisi and Saeed bin Mansur, all three from Ubaydullah bin Iyad. In it, "Saad bin Mansur" appears instead of "Saeed," which is a clear printing error. Bayhaqi also narrated it, 8:23, through Asim bin Ali, from Ubaydullah bin Iyad. Abu Dawud narrated it in the Sunan, split across three places, 4065, 4206, 4495/4:91, 137-138, 287 of Awn al-Mabud, from Ahmad bin Yunus, from Ubaydullah bin Iyad. Tirmidhi narrated it, 4:23, and Nasai, 1:233, a portion of it, from Muhammad bin Bashshar, from Abdul-Rahman bin Mahdi, from Ubaydullah bin Iyad.Regarding his saying, "he had a wafrah," the wafrah, with fatha on the waw and sukun on the fa, Ibn Athir said, is the hair of the head when it reaches the earlobe.Regarding his saying, "resembling me, my father," in a copy in the margin of M it reads "resembling me, in my father." This is not a good reading.Regarding "the silah," with kasrah on the sin and sukun on the lam, Ibn Athir said, it is a lump that appears between the skin and the flesh, and when pressed by hand it moves.
