Abdullah bin Amr bin As reported,

I said, "Abu Muhammad, we live in a land where we cannot find dinars or dirhams. Our wealth consists of livestock, and we trade them among ourselves. We exchange a cow for a sheep on credit until a set term, a camel for several cows, and a horse for camels, all on credit until a set term. Is there any harm in that for us?"He replied, "You have asked someone with knowledge of the matter. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ ordered me to dispatch an army on camels that I had with me. I mounted the men on them until the camels ran out, and a remainder of the men were left behind."So I said to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, 'Messenger of Allah, the camels are exhausted, and a group of men are left without mounts.'"The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to me, 'Buy camels for us against young she-camels from the alms-camels, payable when they come due, until we send out this expedition.'"So I would buy a camel for two or three young she-camels from the alms-camels, payable when they came due, until that expedition was sent out. When the alms-camels were due, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ paid them off."

حدثنا يعقوب حدثنا أبي عن ابن إسحاق حدثني أبو سفيان الحرشي وكان ثقة فيما ذكر أهل بلاده عن مسلم بن جبير مولى ثقيف وكان مسلم رجلا يؤخذ عنه وقد أدرك وسمع عن عمرو بن حريش الزبيدي

عن عبد الله بن عمرو بن العاص قال

قلت يا أبا محمد إنا بأرض لسنا نجد بها الدينار والدرهم وإنما أموالنا المواشي فنحن نتبايعها بيننا فنبتاع البقرة بالشاة نظرة إلى أجل والبعير بالبقرات والفرس بالأباعر كل ذلك إلى أجل فهل علينا في ذلك من بأس فقال على الخبير سقطت أمرني رسول الله ﷺ أن أبعث جيشا على إبل كانت عندي قال فحملت الناس عليها حتى نفدت الإبل وبقيت بقية من الناس قال فقلت لرسول الله ﷺ يا رسول الله الإبل قد نفدت وقد بقيت بقية من الناس لا ظهر لهم قال فقال لي رسول الله ﷺ ابتع علينا إبلا بقلائص من إبل الصدقة إلى محلها حتى ننفذ هذا البعث قال فكنت أبتاع البعير بالقلوصين والثلاث من إبل الصدقة إلى محلها حتى نفذت ذلك البعث قال فلما حلت الصدقة أداها رسول الله ﷺ
