Whenever the Messenger of Allah ﷺ wished to distribute the spoils of war, he would order Bilal, may Allah be pleased with him, to make an announcement, which he would call out three times.After the spoils had been distributed, a man came to the Prophet ﷺ with a halter made of hair and said, "Messenger of Allah, this is from the spoils I had taken."The Prophet ﷺ asked, "Did you not hear Bilal making the announcement three times?"The man replied, "Yes."The Prophet ﷺ asked, "Then what kept you from bringing it to me?"The man offered an excuse, and the Prophet ﷺ said, "I will not accept it from you. You yourself shall be the one to bring it to me on the Day of Resurrection."
حدثنا عتاب بن زياد حدثنا عبد الله يعني ابن مبارك أخبرنا عبد الله بن شوذب قال حدثني عامر بن عبد الواحد عن عبد الله بن بريدة
كان رسول الله ﷺ إذا أراد أن يقسم غنيمة أمر بلالا رضي الله تعالى عنه فنادى ثلاثا فأتى رجل بزمام من شعر إلى النبي ﷺ بعد أن قسم الغنيمة فقال يا رسول الله هذه من غنيمة كنت أصبتها قال أما سمعت بلالا ينادي ثلاثا قال نعم قال فما منعك أن تأتيني به فاعتل له فقال النبي ﷺ إني لن أقبله حتى تكون أنت الذي توافيني به يوم القيامة
