The Messenger of Allah ﷺ came out to us one day as if bidding farewell and said, "I am Muhammad, the unlettered Prophet. I am Muhammad, the unlettered Prophet. I am Muhammad, the unlettered Prophet," saying it three times, "and there is no prophet after me. I have been given the openings of speech, its comprehensive expressions, and its conclusions. I have been informed of the number of the keepers of the Fire and the bearers of the Throne. I have been granted safe passage, and I and my nation have been pardoned. So listen and obey as long as I am among you. When I am taken away, hold fast to the Book of Allah. Treat as lawful what it makes lawful, and treat as forbidden what it forbids."
حدثنا يحيى بن إسحاق أخبرنا ابن لهيعة عن عبد الله بن هبيرة عن عبد الرحمن بن جبير قال سمعت
خرج علينا رسول الله ﷺ يوما كالمودع فقال أنا محمد النبي الأمي أنا محمد النبي الأمي ثلاثا ولا نبي بعدي أوتيت فواتح الكلم وجوامعه وخواتمه وعلمت كم خزنة النار وحملة العرش وتجوز بي وعوفيت وعوفيت أمتي فاسمعوا وأطيعوا ما دمت فيكم فإذا ذهب بي فعليكم بكتاب الله أحلوا حلاله وحرموا حرامه
