The Messenger of Allah ﷺ fell behind us during a journey we were making. He caught up with us when the time for the afternoon prayer was pressing upon us. We were performing ablution and began wiping over our feet, so he called out at the top of his voice, "Woe to the heels from the Fire," repeating it two or three times.
Its isnad is sahih. Abu Bishr is Jafar bin Abu Wahshiya, who is Jafar bin Iyas, his father's kunya being Abu Wahshiya. The hadith is given in full at 6911. We referred to it at 6528. Bukhari related it in 1:132, 170, 232 of Fath, and Muslim in 1:84, both of them through Abu Awana from Abu Bishr, with this isnad.
