The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Allah has added a prayer for you, so guard it carefully. It is the witr." Amr bin Shuayb held the view that the witr should be repeated, even after a month.

Its isnad is hasan. Muhammad bin Sawa bin Anbar Sadusi Basri Makfuf is trustworthy, one of the teachers of Ahmad. Ibn Hibban, Ibn Shahin, and others declared him trustworthy, and Bukhari gave his biography in al-Kabir 1/1/106. Sawa is spelled with a fatha on the sin, a single (unshaddadded) waw, and ends with a hamza. In the book Manaqib Ahmad by Ibn Jawzi, p. 48, it appears as "Sawwar," which is a clear printing error.As for Muthanna bin Sabbah, we discussed him under 6893, and concluded that his hadith is hasan.This hadith was narrated by Muhammad bin Nasr Marwazi in his book al-Witr, p. 111, from Ishaq bin Rahawayh, from Muhammad bin Sawa, with this same isnad. However, he did not mention in it Amr bin Shuayb's opinion regarding repeating the Witr.The meaning of this hadith has already appeared in brief form under 6693, with a sahih isnad, and we cited it there and pointed to this one.
